-Genres -|- What Topics I Role Play-
Personally, I'll do most anything that a modern teenage shape shifter (or two) would fit into, including gifted, fantasy and quite a few others, but I WONT do anything based off of a show, book, or anything with 'original' characters to play as unless I /really/ like it.
Sorry, but personally, it's very difficult for me to stay in character with a character I don't own, didn't create, and don't use on a regular basis.
Therefore, using a character that I never made and am only sticking myself in the position of...it's just weird, and just so no one can say "(name of original character here) would never do that", I'll just use my own characters, thanks. ^^
Please keep in mind that JUST because none of my characters are mortal, that does NOT mean yours cannot be. As long as things such as shapeshifters CAN exist in the role play, I have NO preference over what your character is, as long as it's not some kind of god/goddess, king/queen, prince/princess or something all-powerful and perfect, of course; but that falls into the category of Mary Suing, now doesn't it? ^^
Still, I by far prefer people to just use the plot, not the characters from whatever book/show/movie it is; seeing as I REFUSE to play any 'original' character from a show, book or anything else. Don't like it? Don't RP with me. Very simple choices.

Genre Suggestions VERY open. Will try almost any non-fandom as long as it's not for mortals only.
*Modern Supernatural-
'Modern Supernatural' is exactly what one might assume it is -- it's just like a cross between gifted, vampire, werewolf, angel, demon and so on, but you're less limited to only use one 'kind' of character.
Anyway, they're basically living in modern times amongst mostly-oblivious humans who may or may not be aware that these creatures exist outside of fairytales, much less live in their own town.
It might be a bit difficult to explain a dragon or unicorn walking around the streets, although there's quite a few kinds of creatures that can easily be mistaken for humans, and I've taken it upon myself to make a small list of some of the (more common) 'abilities' that a humanlike character may possess. ^^
For an example and some ideas, perhaps if you just want to add them onto one of your human characters that you currently own so you don't need to make one up from scratch or whatever, the following are some of the abilities I've seen in my few years of role playing...
The ability to--
(Pyrokinetic) Create and/or control fire
Create and/or control water
Create and/or control electricity and/or electronics
Levitation / Flight by use of Wings
(Telekinetic) Move objects with their mind
(Telepathic) Read minds or hear thoughts
(Premonition) Get mental glimpses of the future, past, or present (of something happening in another place)
Heal themself and/or others at will
Transform to look like other individuals
Shapeshift to take the form of other beings or objects
Other that gifted abilities, there's also other possibilities of humanlike characters such as Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Wizards, Warlocks and et cetera, or you can just use a mortal human who does or doesn't know about the existence of non-mortal beings and such, really. Your imagination is the limit. oO;

-Genres I Refuse To Do-
Modern (Mortal or Human) - Too plain for me, I get bored too easily, sorry.
"Abusive Relationship" - When this happens in real life, it's plain sad and pathetic. No thanks. e_e;
"Pairings" such as 'Model x Photographer' or 'Doctor x Patient' - Not my thing, and again with the mortal-ness. Possibly Negotiable, with a decent supernatural'ish plot.
Most all animes and mangas - Too...fad-ish, and I don't care for cartoons, japanese animation or otherwise
Harry Potter - Kind of cliche, again with main characters.
Pirates of the Carribean - Bored me to death.
Lord of the Rings - Same reason.
Final Fantasy - Don't want to learn about it.
Kingdom Hearts - Same.
Overall Fandoms such as Books, Shows and Movie-based Genres - I don't want to have to read or watch something just to be able to role play it. Sorry.
Any form of incest, such as-
Mother x Son
Father x Daughter
Brother x Sister
Brother x Brother
Sister x Sister
And ANY others.
This includes step siblings.
Honestly, I have nothing against it -- I even have incestuous characters -- but for our characters to incest with one another (is that even a verb? xD) that would imply that they would have to already /know/ one another, or that one of us would have to be more than a little cliche and have them find out they're related at a later date.
..Actually, this might work, but please don't expect me to alter my characters or their lineage to be able to add yours into their pasts as a long lost family member. Otherwise, I'm cool with it. ...Just..not /any forms/ of it. For example..ehh...
"Oh, father, you're so sexy at nearly sixty years old, balding and wrinkled. Take me now."
No. Thank. You. xDD
I'm also not interested in the
Best Friend x Best Friend
Brother x Sister's Best Friend
at /all/. While siblings and relatives can be worked around, implying that our characters are best friends /before/ they meet in the role play would mean that I have to edit the pasts of mine, and that could seriously disrupt their lives as a whole -- and I think it's a little phony to imagine the interactions between characters we've never used with one another, and therefore have to base it entirely off of assumption, making it up as we go. Sorry, but that's just a bit too much effort for me, as I'm sure I'll still leave huge plotholes everywhere, and that can make role plays appear cheap and poorly thought-out.
Anything else?
Don't be afraid, I don't bite. ^^ Suggest it, and I'll consider it, as long as it isn't on my 'definitely-do-not-do' list. =3
